Being robbed if a sizeable sum of money – with no recourse of getting it back, despite the best efforts of authorities – will affect one mentally. At such a time – and at all other times – maintaining one’s mental health is critically important.
In our community, the office of a local Member of Parliament has thoughtfully provided a small pamphlet entitled “Mental Health Matters”. The excellent information shared in this section has come from this pamphlet.
May this information especially benefit anyone who is presently suffering the effects of a scam.
Your mental well-being is the unique way that you handle your emotions, respond to stress, and also your general outlook on life.
Having a healthy sense of mental well-being has many benefits. It lifts your mood, promotes resilience in difficult situations, and helps you get the most out of life.
It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live, or how you’re feeling – taking a few moments for yourself each day will help you be a happier and more resilient you.
Here are six tips or strategies:
Get healthy – be active, eat well, and get enough sleep.
Keep learning – challenge your mind and seek out new things.
Show kindness – give back, show gratitude, and bring joy to others’ lives.
Connect more – develop relationships, stay connected, and care for each other.
Take notice – be mindful, stay in the moment. Experience the world around you.
Embrace nature – step outside, connect with nature, and care for the planet.
If you feel that you need help – especially in recovering from a serious scam situation – you can consider:
(1) Talking to someone you can trust.
(2) Contacting your GP, a counsellor, psychologist, or psychiatrist.
(3) Visiting a hospital emergency department.
